Welcome to Via Margutta Dolce E Salato

Cl. 95 #11a-18, Chapinero, Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Colombia

General Info

Tucked away in the lively Chapinero district, Via Margutta Dolce E Salato at Cl. 95 #11a-18, Bogotá feels like a small slice of Northern Italy right in the heart of Colombia. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it easy to settle in whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or planning a relaxed meal with friends or family.

The menu leans into classic Northern Italian flavors, and while everything feels thoughtfully prepared, the standout has to be the Cannoli Siciliani. Crisp on the outside and delicately sweet within, each bite delivers that perfect balance of texture and flavor. It’s the kind of dessert that lingers in your memory long after you’ve left, and honestly, it’s reason enough to come back. Pair it with a coffee, and you’ve got yourself a simple yet satisfying experience that feels authentic and comforting.

One thing that really stood out during my visit was how accommodating the restaurant is. Whether you’re dining with kids or just looking for a casual spot, the setup works. High chairs are available, making it a good choice for families, and the overall vibe is relaxed enough that no one feels out of place. It’s also reassuring to see that Via Margutta Dolce E Salato is a transgender safespace, which adds to the inclusive and respectful environment.

If you’re on the go, the takeout service is efficient and convenient. I noticed several locals popping in to grab their favorite dishes, which says a lot about the restaurant’s reputation in the neighborhood. Free street parking nearby is another bonus, especially in a busy area like Chapinero, making access a bit easier than expected.

In terms of location, it’s perfectly situated for both locals and visitors exploring Bogotá. The surrounding streets are lively, and after your meal, it’s easy to continue your day without feeling rushed. Reviews from other diners often highlight the friendly service and consistent quality, and from my experience, that praise feels well-deserved.

All in all, Via Margutta Dolce E Salato delivers a genuine Northern Italian restaurant experience with a personal, neighborhood feel. It’s the kind of place where the food, the service, and the atmosphere come together naturally, creating a spot you’ll want to revisit again and again.

“ The pistachio browniemisu was absolutely 10/10. Not too sweet, great texture, and well balanced. Also loved the plants and atmosphere - a gem of a place ”

- Luis Ocampo -

“ The food is awesome. Having Italians working in the Italian restaurant makes all the difference ”

“ An Italian restaurant with a somewhat limited menu; the dishes were good but not spectacular. We tried the burrata, which was very filling, even served with prosciutto. There was a good variety of focaccia, although it was a bit cold and lacked flavor. The cannelloni with meat stood out for their generous size, perfect for sharing. The prices are reasonable, and if you're not expecting a top-notch experience, it's a good option for Italian food. ”

- Jorge Troconis -

“ Very nice place, green and aesthetically pleasing. We ordered two focaccias; they were delicious and super crispy (those who have trouble chewing should probably avoid them). The flavors were well-balanced. The focaccia with truffle cream and potato with blue cheese was INCREDIBLE; the other had burrata and Italian pepperoni and was also good. Personally, I would suggest adding another creamy ingredient to make it easier to chew such crispy bread. The olive oil was exquisite! The service, although not very friendly, was quick and efficient. 2 focaccias + lemonade + soursop juice + service = $109,500. I will return. ”

- María Abreo -

“ It's a very nice café. I've been there a few times, just for coffee and pastries. I tried something savory, but I don't remember the name, and it was delicious. The cannoli is highly recommended. They offer cake service, and we've tried several varieties of tiramisu, which are delicious (the most delicious being the Baileys). They offer delivery via Uber or pick up in person. ”

- Lianna -

“ The food is delicious, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the service is excellent. I've enjoyed it both times! They have delicious focaccia sandwiches and toasts, as well as excellent brunch options. The coffee is also delicious. Highly recommended! ”

- Renata Tamega -

“ I absolutely loved this place! The food is delicious, and the service is excellent. Dishes average between COP 25k and COP 45k. It's great for coffee, lunch, and dinner. You can go with family, friends, your partner, or even alone. I haven't tried the tiramisu, but I've heard it's amazing ”
